Vice President quietly shifted to new house in Central Vista, built for Rs 200 crores !

What are the facilities available there ?

New Delhi : Under the Central Vista Project, a new house was to be built for the Prime Minister as well as the Vice President, the construction of the house has been completed. The puja has also been done and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar has shifted to the new house with his family quietly. According to sources, approximately Rs 200 crore has been spent on the new house. In which many facilities like sports complex, conference room facility and swimming pool have been provided. 

According to sources, Vice President Dhankhar had got the puja done in the new house in Central Vista on the occasion of Basant Panchami on 14 February. After this, the process of shifting from Upa-Rashtrapati Bhawan on Maulana Azad Road started. Then on April 4, the Vice President also quietly moved to the new house. No official information regarding this has been revealed yet. Even on the Rajya Sabha website, the address of the Vice President appears to be old.

The new house of the Vice-President or ‘V-P Enclave’ is built on 15 acres of land near North Block and Rashtrapati Bhavan. The complex includes the Vice-President’s house and a separate secretariat building which houses his office and a conference room. Apart from this, there is also a sports complex and swimming pool which were added to the project later.

In November 2021, the Central Public Works Department had given the contract for the construction of the complex to Kamladitya Construction Private Limited of Jharkhand for Rs 206.49 crore. According to information received from the  sources, the cost of the project has increased to around Rs 300 crore. But, there was no response received from the officials of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs or CPWD on the final cost of this project. Now the old bungalow of the Vice-President means Upa-Rashtrapati Bhawan on Maulana Azad Road will soon be demolished.

Let us tell you that apart from the V-P Enclave, under the Central Vista Project, a new Parliament Building, Kartavya-Path, General Central Secretariat, Central Conference Centre, New Commerce Building, new residence and office for the Prime Minister and a new facility Building for IGNCA are to be built. | About Rs 20,000 crore is being spent on the entire Central Vista project.
