New Delhi : In order to address the issue of rising unemployment and drug addiction among youth in the country, the Indian Youth Congress will launch a nationwide movement from tomorrow to draw the attention of the people and force the government of India to take remedial measures.
Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here today, the newly appointed president of the Indian Youth Congress, Uday Bhanu Chib said that the youth of the country were facing the double whammy. He pointed out, on the one side there was widespread unemployment, while on the other hand there was rampant drug addiction across the country.
He reminded the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government at the centre that ten years ago, they had promised to bring back black money stashed abroad but instead they have brought drugs which are eating into the vitals of the society as the youth are falling prey to this scourge.
Chib said, the nationwide movement, called, “Naukri Do, Nasha Nahi” (give jobs, not drugs) will start from Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on 16th October and will reach out to every state, district and each assembly segment across the country. This, he added, was being done to create awareness among the youth and also wake up the government from its deep slumber. The IYC president observed that a false fear was being created that religion was in danger. But, he said, what was actually in danger was the future of the youth of the country, who were facing unemployment and were at the risk of drug addiction. He said, the IYC campaign is aimed at protecting the youth and future of the country
