YouTuber Bobby Kataria arrested for human trafficking case

Gurugram : Social media influencer Balwant Kataria alias Bobby Kataria, was arrested on Monday late evening by Haryana Police crime branch at Gurugram, allegedly involved in a case of human trafficking two youths from Uttar Pradesh identified as Arun Kumar resident of Gopalganj in Fatehpur district and Manish Tomar resident of Dholana in Hapur district, both friends who approached Gurugram police claiming that Kataria had defrauded them of more than Rs 4 lakh assuring to get them employed in abroad. According to the complainants, they came across an advertisement on Instagram offering to work abroad, posted from the official Instagram ID and YouTube channel of Bobby Kataria.

According to complainants, Kataria called them in his Sector 109 office and had promised them jobs in the UAE and Singapore respectively. instead, they were taken to Vientiane, the capital of Laos where they met a youth Abhi introduced himself as Bobby Kataria’s friend and both were taken to Navtai next day and were introduced two youths Aakit Shoukeen and  Nitish, who snatched the money they were having alongwith their passports, forced them to work in an illegal call centre involved in cyber crimes. Both told police that they came to know that nearly 150 youths including a few females were also cheated by Kataria and his associates in the past and forced to work in the call centre involved in cyber frauds. They said that they managed to flee and contacted the  Indian Embassy and reached back with their help. Police Crime Branch in Sector 10 during a surprise raid on Monday late evening arrested Bobby Kataria who was produced in the court on Tuesday seeking police remand. According to police information Bobby Kataria was involved in various cases registered against him in the past also and a reward for Rs 25000 was also announced by police for his arrest.
